Theses days people have lost interest in the accomplishments of NASA. Older generations still get it because they were there when it happened. Most younger people, humble blogger excluded, just don’t see what the big deal is. NASA no longer inspires generations to study science and engineering. It’s quite sad.
The Space Shuttle program has ended and there is no current replacement. Thankfully there is enough demand for the shuttles themselves that they are being preserved in museums around the country. Once they are on display, it will be worth the trip to go and see them. But until then here’s a video of one of the shuttles making its journey through LA, which caused quite a ruckus due to trees and such that had to be taken down. While unfortunate, it will be worth it.
I’m not sure what’s more awe inspiring, the shuttle itself or the process it took to move the thing through town. One thing is for sure, both serve as a testament to the incredible things man can do. And that should always be honored.
