- Republicans hate Labor Day because it’s a celebration of the contributions of organized labor. In their eyes organized labor has done nothing but hold back the country.
- Democrats hate Labor Day because they know Republicans will give them hell about how organized labor has held back the economy.
- Libertarians hate Labor Day because they don’t like the government telling them when they cannot work.
- Lobbyists hate Labor Day because politicians are out of town.
- Parents hate Labor Day because they just spent the whole summer dealing with their kids all day and now the government dumps them back under their care for an extra day when all they want is a break.
- Kids hate Labor Day because it’s not enough time off to do anything fun.
- Economists hate Labor Day because it’s one less day that contributes to worker productivity for the quarter when the economy so desperately needs it.
- Bosses hate Labor Day because they have to pay their employees to not work, then try to squeeze extra productivity out of them in the next four days.
- Workers hate Labor Day because they’re going to have to cram an extra 8 hours of work into the next four days.
- Retail hates Labor Day because they have to work harder to make the same commission with prices lower.
- The unemployed hate Labor Day because they’d be happy to work that day.
- Union leaders hate Labor Day because they have to write some ridiculous letter thanking all their members for their contributions, even when they know many of them are worthless.
- Union members hate Labor Day because most of them are parents.
- The media hates Labor Day because they still have to work.
- Baseball fans hate Labor Day because Sportscenter will finally have more interesting things to cover.
- Meteorologists hate Labor Day because it marks the end of most of their chances to talk about “record temperatures” until winter.
- Police hate Labor Day because they probably have to work harder.
- Bloggers hate Labor Day because they feel the need to post something but really don’t want to.
