It’s been 9 years since 9/11 occurred.  I’m not going to talk about the tragedy specifically, there is already enough coverage about that.

I want you to simply think about the impacts those events had on the last 9 years.  It’s shaped our politics and our economy.  The economy entered a recession following 9/11 and as a result, interest rates were cut and existing policies that encouraged home ownership were fortified and advertised.  It fueled the housing crisis.

Likewise our wars in Afghanistan and Iraq were directly related.  And whether you support the wars or not, there’s no denying the expense that has been taken on.

This situation is not at all unlike Peal Harbor, 9/11′s closest parallel.  But there are differences as well.

It’s amazing how a single event can launch a series of following events that can be traced through time.  One is left to wonder what our current world would be like if that one event had not happened.  More trippy people will wonder what events were prevented that could have had an impact on us today.  What if Germany had invaded the US?  What if we hadn’t been first to invent the nuclear bomb?  What if Columbus had simply sailed around Africa?

It’s been 9 years, and I remember exactly what I was doing when it happened.  I will never forget.  We will never forget.
