Reaction to Apple - positively or negatively - has always had a large degree of emotion in it.  That&#039;s probably not the best driver for a Dow stock, as it would violate the &quot;clear, straightforward view&quot; concept.

On the flip side, it&#039;s hard to find a lot of people who get too emotional about IBM.

You&#039;re definitely not pulling that 2300% out of your ass.  Apple stock was at 13/share in 1997 and is currently at 261.  But the kick is that the stock has split twice in that time, meaning that a $13 share in 1997 would be worth $1044 today.  Not a bad ROI.
