This post is the first of a series that I will eventually call The Personal Finance Paradox.  But because I’m too lazy to write all the posts at once we’re starting off with my first: The Credit Card Paradox.

The premise is simple: in personal finance we advocate paying off your credit card every month.  But the reality is we also like using our credit cards for the rewards and liquidity.  If everyone makes payments then credit cards will no longer be profitable.  So the paradox is I want you to pay off your cards, but I need at least 10% of you to stop making regular payments.  You make the banks profitable so I can have my cake and eat it too.
