FDIC - They may be in financial trouble but we can be rest assured that so long as our government has money, our deposits are safe in the bank.
The Bull Market of 2009 – The stock market has had a good run in 2009. December should shape up to be good as well, as historically December follows whatever the rest of the year does. Considering the awful recession we’ve been experiencing, this is a shining light.
Healthcare - Doesn’t matter if you like Obamacare or not, no one can say with a straight face that our system isn’t broken. The current system needs to be changed. I’m thankful that we’re at least focusing on changing it. We may not get it right the first time, but we have to try.
Mutual funds – The greatest thing to happen to personal finance since FDIC insurance.
Charities – Most may be useless and largely inefficient, but Americans are some of the most charitable citizens on the planet.
Taxes – Yeah that’s right. I love taxes. We pay fairly low taxes compared to many European countries. I’m thankful for are low taxes, and I’m thankful that we use taxes to pay for our military, police, teachers, interstates, and thousands of projects.
Online savings – The greatest thing to happen to personal finance since mutual funds.
Congress – Yep. I bash Congress all the time, but it’s only because I have the legal right to. In many countries the citizens don’t get representation in government. Ours may be crap, but it’s the best crap on the planet.
