When will people learn most of the items are on sale online either Thursday night or at the same time Friday morning?

I bought my LG HDTV 2 years ago from the comfort of my PJs sitting in front of my laptop and went back to bed right after...total time spent about 15min. I got the same price that was in the "doorbuster" ad.

I have never participated in Black Friday, because I hate crowds and getting up early. But, this year, my wife is out of town and I wanted to be a part of all the excitement. Besides, I had my eye on a cheap laptop or netbook.

Well, it was even more of a fiasco then I anticipated. I cruised into Walmart at 4:45 and the parking lot was already packed. Walmart stayed open 24 hours on Black Friday after last year's incident, where an employee got trampled to death. So, I go to the computer section and find out everyone got tickets at midnight and all of the netbook deals are gone.

Next, I went across town to Sears, which used to be our old K-Mart, figuring it would be less of a zoo. Strangely, the parking lot was empty and there were fewer customers than employees in the store. I thought this could work and they were all excited to see me at 5:00 AM. So, I asked them where the computers were and they said they didn't carry computers at this branch. Now I remember why Sears is called "where America used to shop".

I guess I will be buying my presents online.

These doorbusters are usually junk - they are items I wouldn't buy if I did any research into them. But I've found most deals that the stores offer can be found online if you look hard enough. I've been looking for a Canon Powershot 1200IS for sometime and waiting for the best price. I knew from pre-released Black Friday ads I could get it at Best Buy for $149 (regularly $179-$199). Well last night amazon had it for $149 and I didn't have to pay tax or leave the confines of my house to buy it. Plus I got my mother-in-law a salad spinner she said she wanted for Xmas for 30% off. That was a little extra savings I didn't anticipate. So save your time and sanity and do a little research before just spending all your money.
