Great List! The only one I would add is, "You don't think there is a problem because you can pay your minimum payments"

Every "this is why you're broke" list I have ever seen forgets the one essential that could fix the problem: If you are living beyond your means, raise your means. If people with more training, better training, higher degrees get better jobs or better opportunities, do that. Go to school and lay the foundation for a career in something other than waitress or clerk. If your lifestyle demands more money, earn more money. Work today for the rewards of tomorrow. It's called paying your dues. Nobody is an overnight success. You work your butt off to get the rewards down the line.

Oh, and budget. Do that.

Hope you ladies and gent's enjoyed.... a few reply's to your comments:

Ashley- I couldn't agree more with you that managing peer pressure is the key to most individuals problems. Thanks for your time!!!

Rob- I agree that there are sometimes matters that are not our fault. But usually, whens something happens out of our own hands, the recovery process is much faster if we have a built up savings rather than following the list above and not still saving. Thanks for your comment!!!

Craig- Vegas is one heck of a ride. Will not disagree with ya there. The problem is that many of us don't set up additional funds for Vegas and rather spend what should be used for other more important purposes. I love Vegas for a weekend, but my debt being off my shoulder can be great year round. Thanks for your comments....

Thanks again to those who commented and checked out LifeExcursion!!!

You're right.

At least in a practical sense.

There are of course cases in which it is not entirely one's own fault that one is broke. For practical purposes, though, there is usually not too much we can do about the non-us factors.

Is it the "I" factors than I can change. So that's what I need to focus on.

Taking responsibility for your actions is a good step towards becoming financially responsible. Sad that 6 of the items (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7) are strongly influenced by peer pressure or others. Finding friends that are financially responsible, and having enough confidence not to care what others think would help to alleviate some of those problems.
