OK, you like him, I like him. Is our affinity based only on the superficial? I think some of it is. He says things I like in ways I like to hear them. That's what a good politician does.

Is our affinity based on deeper things? For me, yes. He's attempting to tackle important problems that I feel need to be addressed. He's not doing them in exactly the way I'd like, but he can't. He's not a king and he has to balance competing interests.

It is still early in his presidency. Obama's legacy has yet to be written. The next six to nine months will reveal if he can deliver on some big ticket items: health care, financial regulation, energy reform. I think the changes for meaningful progress in those areas are good, mediocre, and poor, respectively.

Actually doing nothing is sometimes better than doing something. Do you remember the depression of 1921? No? That's because Harding did nothing and the market corrected within a year. How long did the depression in 1929 last? What was the difference between the two?

I too had some doubt about the man early on in the election cycle and then was converted. I now think that the man is excellent. He is doing a great job, and doing it calmly in rough seas.

I too don't agree with him on everything, but it would be unreasonable to assume that I would.
