Last year, I somewhat reluctantly endorsed Barack Obama for president.  Mostly because I felt like he would actually make a difference, but also because I liked him.  Based on the votes, most of you probably agree with me.  Since January, he has successfully hit the ground running and he’s already paying for it with a new gray hair every day.  He’s followed through on many of his campaign promises and I have faith that he will continue this path for some time.

Perhaps most impressive, is how much I feel like I know him.  With previous presidents and most politicians, I feel like I must respect them as honored citizens, more important than society.  Whether I actually think they are important is irrelevant, I feel like I HAVE to respect them.  With this president, he’s someone whose respect has been earned.  It would be hard for me to call him “Mr. President” were I to ever meet him simply because he’s just “Obama” to me.

Most of my feelings here come from his accessibility.  If you watched the NBC special with Brian Williams you know what I’m talking about.  From this series I got the impression that Obama really looks at himself not as “the leader of the free world” but instead as the guy in charge of serving the people who elected him.  This creates a good feeling among the population that ripples around the country.  This doesn’t mean everyone is drinking Obama Brand Kool-Aid but even if the you a person you disagree with it’s much easier to deal with.  I think with most of Washington feeling the same way about Obama as I do he’ll actually get some stuff done.  Like I said, I don’t agree with him on everything, in fact I think he’s already made some bad moves, but doing something is better than nothing.  I was tired of the nothing we’ve seen for the past 4 years.

Now the reason I said he had mad skills was this video.  He’s Barack oBAMa.
