Yesterday I told you about my experience with purchasing a wedding ring. What I didn’t tell you was that after the purchase was made I contacted the manager of the store to let me know how happy we’ve been working with them. Not only was their staff friendly and courteous, but I never felt pressured to complete a sale and was not contacting left and right for follow-ups. They allowed me to come to the decision on my own and I felt like my business was appreciated.
The manager forwarded my note to the store owner, and I’m sure that wins some points for the associate that helped me.
Deep down we’re all motivated by money simply because it runs our lives. Outside of money though, we all have a need in our DNA to feel appreciated and have our accomplishments recognized. Sometimes this is more valuable than money, sometimes it’s a good substitute for money, and sometimes we’d rather just have the money. When money isn’t available though, sincere gratitude for a job well done can make you feel like the richest guy or gal on the planet.
Make it a point this weekend to show so gratitude to someone in your life. Thank them for doing something grand for you. It could be a co-worker, business partner, friend, neighbor, volunteer, parent, boss, or even your dog.
The associate that helped The Sheconomist and I told me I made their week by showing gratitude in a simple email. Make someone’s week by showing some gratitude.
Aside from jewelry shopping, I want to show gratitude to The Sheconomist. I can’t tell you everything here, but you should know that she is my backbone, my rock, my support, and my harshest critic. I read this week that life is too short to worry about what other people think about you. I can certainly get behind that statement with one exception; what The Sheconomist thinks about me is all that matters. I’m proud, lucky, blessed, and full of gratitude for having this woman in my life.
