No time to waste, let’s jump right in to the editor’s choice. Okay okay, we have time for one funny picture, but then editor’s choice!
There was a lot of good reading around the interwebs this week. Of of my favorite money writers is a fella named Frank who runs Bad Money Advice. I’m not the only one that is a fan of his work. This week he did a guest post on Get Rich Slowly that talks about target retirement funds. This mutual funds invest in other mutual funds to help automate the asset allocation and diversification for you. I’m a huge supporter of these funds but they aren’t for everyone and sometimes don’t give you the kinds of investment mixes you’re really looking for. Check out Frank’s post: How To Create Your Own Retirement Fund
Here’s the best of the rest:
Behavior Gap points out that you don’t have to invest in stocks in order to prepare for retirement. They are just one of many investments you can use.
Bible Money Matters reminds us that facing struggles are a necessary part of life. If we aren’t challenged, we can’t succeed. Sometimes lending a helping hand is a crippling gesture.
Punch Debt In The Face (great name right?) wrote of four unconventional ways to make money. Warning, if you don’t have a sense of humor stay away.
Free From Broke likely drew inspiration from all the credit card news recently. It isn’t the credit card companies that suck, its YOU!
Fiscal Fizzle did a roundup of Swine Flu related personal finance posts. Mine from earlier this week was included!
Fire Finance hosted the Carnival of Personal Finance this week. My post on insurance premiums increasing because of poor stock market performance was featured. Be sure to tune in Monday as I am hosting the carnival!
Money Ning hosted the Carnival of Pecuniary Delights. It’s a great resource for older personal finance posts from around the blogosphere. I have an older post on five questions not to ask during a recession that you should check out there.
Okay, one more picture…
