If someone had told me my twenties would be filled with attending 2-5 weddings per year I would have probably made sure to lose touch with as many friends and family as possible during college. Today I get to spend a lot of time in the car to get to a beach where my cousin is getting married. She’s slightly younger than me, but we also happen to work at the same bank, though in different locations. I’ve met her soon-to-be husband once or twice, and know nothing about him.
In two weeks I get to do one of those “all weekend” weddings. My fiancé is a part of the ceremony and so I get to give up my Friday, Saturday, and Sunday to be a part of this wedding. Basically my fiancé is the only person I know that will be at this wedding. Fear not, while many people don’t like this kind of situation I thrive in it. We’re staying at the bride’s house, in a room with a big TV and a computer. I should be all set for the weekend. At the ceremony and reception I’ll probably spend some of the time by myself and some of the time with the Sheconomist. I’ll probably find some nice old couple to talk to, perhaps I’ll tell them I run a personal finance website and give them all the details, only to slip into the abyss and never be seen again.
So the topic of conversation at my office and personal life have been about weddings lately. I’ve heard great stories, horror stories, and tragic stories. My fiancé once worked with someone who’s husband died on their honeymoon. He fell off the balcony. She married his best friend later. The bad ones always make for the most interesting stories, unfortunately.
Now I want to open up the floor to the readers. Do you have any good, bad, or horrible wedding stories?

I’m 27 years old and single. I’ve been to 24 weddings in the past 5 years. I too will be at a wedding today, which will be lucky number 25. I have 4 (that I know of) coming up. I’M OVER IT. I refuse to give gifts at this point, as I’ve likely spent well over $2000 through gifts and travel over the last five years. From now on, my presence will be my presents.
