It boggles my mind that the government is making this so complicated.

Give the TARP money to the banks, when the banks want to pay it back there should be some sort of financial accounting test to make sure that they won't collapse. If they pass take back the money. Then the government can either give more money to other failing banks or repay the people they borrowed from in the first place.

I'm anxious to see what congress does with the money once they get it back. Unfortunately, I'm inclined to agree with you that we can expect it to be spent on pork.

I said this somewhere else...but the fact the gov't won't let them pay back loans AND want to keep restrictions on the companies is SCARY!

THEY WANT TO BE PRIVATE - and the gov't is saying NO! That is nuts plain and simple.

If Timmy G doesn't want the money back, then I, as a taxpayer, would like a direct repayment to me for my share. $700B @ ~138M taxpayers is about $5072. I will consider any related quantitative easing facilities retired. thanks.

ps weako - read yo greatest loss post and see your amazon books, no Animal Spirits?

The events that have unfolded over the past few months really make me feel that the banks are really too big to fail or survive. It has become a game which no one can win.

Wow. just. wow.

First, I like pork and bacon... but that tattoo removal.. WTF.

The fact it gets double counted as income for more spending is kind of gross and stupid. It reminds me of arrested development when they throw away a banana and embezzle a dollar.

Yay for political greeD~~
