Man it feels like each week is just a mad dash, and then when I hit Saturday it’s like soft pillow that absorbs my train wreck from the week.  I love my weekends, not because I get away from work, but simply because I get to unplug from the world.  The internet sees less of me, and I see less of the internet.

But speaking of internet, I recently switched to a new web host for Weakonomics.com.  If you aren’t a web junky like I am, let me explain a little bit how this works.  When you decide to go to Weakonomics.com your browser sends out a message looking for the website, the website has to be located somewhere otherwise you won’t see what you’re reading right now.  There are companies out there that specialize in keeping your website for you.

When I started Weakonomics a year ago, I signed up with Blue Host.  Blue Host is a fantastic company with excellent customer service.  You get what you pay for.  However I was using the BMW of web hosts when I only needed a Honda.  This is where Host Gator comes in.  Their features aren’t as vast and customer service is a bit slower, but their prices are much better and I don’t need a lot of features.  I moved to Host Gator a couple of weeks ago and have been very pleased so far.

Moving to Host Gator comes with a bonus.  Since the servers that hold my website must use electricity, and I’m getting greener by the day (still a bright yellow though), Host Gator is powered by green technology.  They use a wind farm in Texas to power their business.  I think this is great.  If you have a website or are thinking about starting one, give Host Gator a look.  I have a little picture at the very bottom of every page that will take you to their website (or click the image in this post).  Yes I get a kickback if you sign up, but if you sign up through me I will also personally share with you everything I’ve learned about setting up a website and/or switching hosts.

Thanks for reading, let’s see where Weakonomics goes in the next year.  I’m off for some March Madness basketball action!
