If you don't like Nike+ shoes, you can always just velcro the sensor to a different pair of shoes. I've done it in the past, and it seemed pretty accurate.

I recently bought some Avias because they were the least expensive and most comfortable shoes I found. My last Nikes turned out to be duds, but I still think Nike makes great shoes for the most part. That's cool that you do the Nike+ ipod program. I've heard about it but haven't followed up to see how reviews are. Sounds like it may be worth a try in the future.
