So my friends, what did you get for the holidays? If you go back a few weeks you can see I wanted the following for Christmas:
- A few business books
- Gift card to Kohls for work clothes
- Lego Star Wars for Nintendo Wii
- Cheap Tom Tom GPS navigation system
And I got this:
- The Ascent of Money
- Hot Flat and Crowded
- Garmin Nuvi GPS
- Lego Star Wars
I didn’t get the gift card I wanted but that’s OK. I can go get my own clothes.
I’ve been feeling that this weekend is the end of 2008. Wishful thinking I guess. There are few people that will remember 2008 as a great year. Of course I was recently engaged and that will always be remembered. Sadly 2008 was simply put, an awful year for just about everyone. There are exceptions. Barack Obama had a good year. Jay Leno had a good one too. Just about the rest of us are losers though.
One final note is a shout-out to a website I use all the time. Those of you that follow me on Twitter know very well about TinyURL.com. Tinyurl allows a user to convert a web address into another web address. Sounds silly right? Not when you consider having to send a very long website to someone. Sometimes a character is missed in a copy/paste and other times you can just read it out to them over the phone. For example: Take the following which is a link to direction for a road trip across the country.
That is not exactly a short web address. However the above is also exactly the same as http://tinyurl.com/9rn7m8 because I converted on tinyurl’s website. So if you ever have a need for something like this, the service is free and wonderful. Thank you tinyurl!
