Happy Saturday my friends, and enemies.
I am compiling a list of favorite events and happenings of 2008. Below is a list of categories and I want your input. Nominate your favorite non-money and money websites, new sites, FREE software, FREE music services, money books, and the best fails and successes of our government and leaders. I hope to come up with more categories, but for now this is what I have. Email philip [at] weakonomics.com with your nominations. If your ideas come from a blog posting I’ve done during the year, send me the link. Here’s the list again:
Websites
Money Sites
News Websites
Software
Music
Books
Best Fails
Best Successes
In other news, if you are in the business of offering quotes for products or services, proofread your damn quotes. The Sheconomist and I had found a great wedding location. The initial quote looked good and we were about to get a formal contract. Only (over 2 weeks later) then did the event coordinator notice she screwed up the quote and that it would be about 20% more than initially expected. This moved it out of budget for us, and we were very hurt. Since then they’ve been rude and aren’t owning up to their mistake. We’re moving on to another facility. If I ever reveal myself on this website, I’m going to tear into that first facility over and over again.
Finally, I’m looking again to improve the site. I appreciated everyone’s comments a few months back about improvements. This time I’d like to know if you find the current format too busy, too simple, or too boring. Should I change something about the design? Do the ads get in your way or do you barely notice them? Are there topics I’m ignoring you want to know more about? Should I proofread my posts a little better? I’m open to positive and negative feedback here. Thanks in advance.
