Thanksgiving is over, next stop, Chrismahanukwanzakah.

We’re also about to enter the last month of the year we wish we could all forget.  Economically speaking, 2008 is one of the worst years on record.  From a personal standpoint it was a great year though, so I focus on that.

One of the best distractions I’ve had this year has been my new love of reading.  Most of my books are fictional, but I like to throw in business and finance books into the mix as well.  It helps for this site, my career, and my personal knowledge base.

Until recently, I had only tracked what books I’ve read in my head.  Then I read something about a website called Goodreads.com.  Goodreads is a social network for book readers, I don’t have any friends on there but I do use their “My Books” section to track the books I’ve read, and more importantly, the books I want to read. You can also review the books with a simple star rating, or offer up a more extensive review in text.

Now I know I’m on my 10th Star Wars book this year, and I’ve read 6 business/finance books.  I also know what I want to read next.  If I want to buy the book online, the website includes links to the books at all major retailers, but I buy very little and just get whatever is in at the library.  It’s a wonderful website, and I’m so thankful for it.

I’m thinking of setting up an identity for The Weakonomist, so if you join let me know and we can be Goodreads friends.

Please go check out Goodreads.com immediately and sign up.  This site is wonderful!
