Last Friday, Barack Obama announced Joe Biden will be his backup VP via text message.  A great little scheme to get the phone numbers and email addresses of millions of Americans.  It didn’t work as fluidly as the committee of people hoping to get a job if Obama is elected Obama Campaign had hoped.  But oh well, it was unique and a good way to engage the younger voters.

sarah palin mccain vpMcCain in a “me too” move yesterday, the day after Obama’s acceptance speech, announced his VP.  The smokin’ (for a politician) Sarah Palin was selected in a surprise move.  I applaud McCain for not picking from the list the media created like Obama did.  Sarah is the governor of Alaska, so McCain definitely got someone not used to Washington politics.  I’d love to see Palin and Pelosi duke it out on Capital Hill.  If elected, at least she would be interested.  Sorry Biden, you’re just boring.  On a side note, McCain wanted to announce his pick via text message, however could not figure out how to do so on his rotary phone.

My big thing though is the role of VP doesn’t really matter one bit.  Aside from Cheney, what other person will you always remember for being VP?  Gore?  Nope you’re going to remember him for driving a Prius and that movie about truthiness in the environment.

Don’t worry, I haven’t forgotten about my promise to endorse a candidate.  I’m going to wait a while though.  Have a great Labor Day Weekend!
