I pride myself on being able to handle just about any situation thrown at me at work. There just isn’t anything worth getting upset about there. If I fail at something in my job, you will not notice, so therefore its just not that important.
This philosophy at work keeps me from ever getting stressed. I go in relaxed, I’m comfortable at work, and I step outside at the end of the day and smile. Nothing ever gets to me. Except….
When the damned computer won’t work. I’ve got a bit of Carpel Tunnel Syndrome in my wrists and use two mice at work, one for each hand depending on which one is acting up that day. Well my computer started acting up and I called our wonderful Helpdesk. I got a 45 minute lecture on why you can’t do that and quickly responded with exactly why I can. To prove the Helpdesk wrong, I’ve operated with just one mouse for the past two weeks, and the problem has only gotten worse.
You get lectures from your IT people when they are too lazy to come fix it, or in my case, can’t afford to send someone out to fix it. Oh budget cuts, thanks for wasting my Friday. Anyway enough with the ranting, now there is only one thing that can stress me out at work, when the computer is busted.
I found a cool little site this week called Mygazines. They scan and copy hundreds of magazines and post them online, FREE. I can’t help but think the magazine publishers hate this and will tear it down and some point, so head on over there and read your favorite magazine, free. Did you want to know what I’ve read? Money and Road & Track, but you have to find your own favorites.
