I hope you enjoyed my book reviews. From the looks of things over the last week, you didn’t. No matter. I don’t do many book reviews. Of the 3 books I read this past week, only one is relevant to our subject matter, a review will probably show up sometime in the fall. Yes I’m lazy.
Anywho, you probably remember the week prior when I goofed on my posts and instead opened it up to the readers to provide feedback. I got like 500% more responses than expected so that’s great; once you discount the fact I expected only one response. You can still leave a comment and I welcome the input. Post here or on the original post. Regardless, I don’t see the need to make any big changes for now based on what you said. Comments will now always be on though, so those that voted for it make sure you start commenting.
One final note. When departing from my vacation today, I had a great conversation with an uncle. He’s kind of a big deal in his home town; serving for a long time as a lawyer. He has a beard and by the end of the week, so did I. I don’t really like beards, I just hate shaving and only do so for work. If I didn’t work for a bank that wanted decent appearances, I doubt I’d shave often. As we all struggle to define success in our lives, I’ve added another bullet point to mine. I want to work in an environment that doesn’t care if I shave or not. I want to wear shorts and flip-flops to work. If I can find something I love that lets me do this I know I’m on the path to success, and more importantly, happiness.
Thanks to our material culture and probably some Men’s Wearhouse lobby, we think one must wear a suit and tie to be considered important. A suit is a way to buy respect, I prefer to earn it. Rest assured my loyal readers, if I am someday elected to office, I’ll make it to the news for being “some crazy local politician that refuses to wear a suit”.
Death to ties and death to business casual. Viva la flip-flop!
