This blog was started as a hobby of mine. Over time I’ve added some features and taken others away. While it was never expected to make money, there was always hope a sponsor would come by and make an offer. This week that happened.
I always figured the first few to reach out to me would be advertisers of a somewhat sketchy background. Sure enough, it was a payday lending company. You could say this was the first time in my life where the temptation to ’sell out’ has ever been presented to me. We never talked about money, but I would guess they would pay enough to cover my hosting costs for a couple years. I declined their offer.
Be proud of me if you want, I’m not. The temptation was there; I cannot deny that I tried to put a spin on it. Just like in personal finance, its easy to follow the rules until you have to make a decision. We all know the rules of investing but how often do we follow them? Not as often as we should.
That was fun. Okey doke lets look back on a couple of good posts from the last few weeks. This past Monday I published the Top 5 Things I Hate About Personal Finance Blogs to rave reviews. By rave reviews I mean people actually contacted me. 4 whole emails! Its a record! My first Weaky award was also popular, and last week was my second Weaky. These were both quite good. Expect more Weakies in the future.
And finally a link or four that has nothing to do with personal finance. CNET.com and CNETTV.com are two of many websites in the CNET network. They offer product reviews and information around the technology industry. I love the site, enjoy their short shows, and listen to some of their podcasts religiously. CNET is also known for owning news.com and download.com. Have a good weekend faithful reader.
